While its' likely true that Sony's customer service would be nonexistant, I've never personally needed to use customer service relating to a DVD or blu-ray player. Of course, nowadays you can get about 10 or more Sony blu-ray players for the cost of a single Oppo. Try to get an email answer from Sony on a weekend. Well worth it for me, both for build quality and the best customer service in the business. It is very obvious that OP had no clue what we feel is worthwhile. Any step down to 117v is giving up on the ultimate experience, plus your need the 4D chair, and the mister from the ceiling and everything else. You all all causing my investment to drop!!! 220V is the baseline. What the heck is up with people that gave up on Laserdiscs for this more restrictive format? Snobs unite, if you don't have Betamax, you don't deserve 4K.oops, this person wants that lowly bluray content, but only region free next player has to be region free, 4K Blutray, DVD and Laserdisc compatible or you are not wasting your money properly! Now you're all idiots that haven't had surround sound since 1973 when I bought mine?
